Alitalia and Amadeus Sign Agreement

Alitalia and Amadeus have signed a full content contract that runs until the end of 2013. Under the terms of the agreement, Alitalia, Italy’s leading airline, has expanded guaranteed access to its full range of fares, schedules and inventory from Europe-wide to all Amadeus travel agencies globally.

Marco Sansavini, Alitalia’s executive vice president of sales, distribution and customer care, said: “Travel agency distribution plays a vital role in our business, and this contract is a recognition of that. We have collaborated effectively with Amadeus for many years, and we look forward to expanding our relationship to further boost revenue from markets in and outside Europe.”

The full content agreement also guarantees that the same content is available through the Amadeus system as through any other sales channel, including the airline’s own website, and that Alitalia will not charge a GDS fee to Amadeus travel agents.

“This long-term content agreement with Italy’s leading airline guarantees Amadeus travel agencies around the globe access to Alitalia’s full inventory and most competitive fares," said David Doctor, director of Airline and Travel at Amadeus. "The agreement further underlines Amadeus’ focus on securing stable, long-term content agreements that deliver value to both our airline and travel agent partners as well as providing market stability."
