American Airlines Signs Codeshare With Hainan Airlines

American Airlines is looking to further bolster its presence in Asia with its recent agreement with Beijing-based Hainan Airlines. The two carriers have signed an agreement to codeshare each other's flights and to offer their frequent flyer members new opportunities to earn and redeem miles/points.

Hainan operates over 2,800 weekly flights to cities throughout Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. It services over 40 Chinese cities weekly from its Beijing hub.

The agreement, which is still pending approval, will open new markets. American flies nonstop from Chicago O'Haire to Beijing and Shanghai, and from Los Angeles to Shanghai.
