ARC Reports Air Sales Gains

ARC’s January report offered more good news on air sales and may fuel hopes of an early and sustained economic recovery. At more than $5.9 billion in total sales reported and settled by ARC for January 2010, the month exceeded the same month in 2009 by 10.68 percent. 

Total transactions were also comparatively strong and eclipsed January 2009 by 6.88 percent ARC said. Total fares for the month closed at just over $5 billion or 11.08 percent ahead of Jan. 2009 with International fares 15.59 percent greater than January 2009.

Total sales were $5,949,840,346, total transactions were 12,130,394, domestic transactions 8,800,975 (up 6.11 percent) and international transactions at 3,329,419 (up 8.96 percent). Domestic fares totaled $2,618,065,592 (up 7.27 percent) and international fares $2,384,405,271 (up 15.59 percent.) Total fares reported totaled $5,002,470,863, an increase of 11.08 percent.

Carriers reporting totaled 189, while retail locations hit 15,767. STP locations totaled 930, while VTC locations hit 930. The average daily sales for the calendar month was $10,888.
