British Airways to Resume Flights to Libya

The Telegraph is reporting that British Airways will resume service between Heathrow and Tripoli as of May 1.

BA suspended its services to Tripoli, the Libyan capital, in Feburary 2011 following the outbreak of civil war, the story continues, and hostilities officially ended in October last year, with NATO lifting its no-fly zone over the country.

However, the State Department still advises against all but essential travel to Tripoli and several other parts of the country, and against all travel to the rest of Libya. The most recent travel warning notes the resumption of Embassy operations and continuing limitations of consular services to U.S. citizens.

BA will fly from Heathrow to Tripoli three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Other European airlines flying to the city include Alitalia and Air France.
