Chinese Airline Sets Up North America Sales Unit

Hainan Airlines, China's fourth-largest carrier, has appointed AirWorld as its general sales agent for North America. AirWorld will handle reservations, sales and ticketing from six North American offices in New York City, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver.

The airline also announced its new toll-free North American reservation and information number: 888-688-8813. This number connects to both native English and Chinese speakers.

Hainan Airlines has applied with the U.S. Department of Transportation to launch the only nonstop service between Seattle and Beijing, beginning June 9. Once the airline receives U.S. regulatory approval, the flight would operate four times weekly, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Initial flights will utilize Airbus A330 aircraft in a two-class configuration, business and economy. (MR)
