Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) has announced that El Al Israel Airlines will be the first launch partner for ARC Sentinel powered by Accertify— a fraud prevention system. The carrier will employ the fraud prevention solution for its ARC travel agency transactions later this year. It will also provide ARC and Accertify with critical feedback needed to address customer needs before Sentinel’s final release.
“We have found that while most airlines dedicate huge resources to the development of their Internet anti-fraud systems, they tend to ignore the increasing risk of credit card payments done via travel agents, assuming wrongly that the travel agent will bear the losses,” said Esther Taub, deputy controller for El Al USA.
ARC Sentinel is a fraud prevention solution created to help carriers, who may not possess the resources to do so, prevent fraud and reduce credit card chargebacks. It employs a shared adaptation of Accertify’s Interceptas platform, which has prevented tens of millions of dollars in fraudulent bookings for a growing number of individual carrier users, with ARC’s vast data and fraud prevention resources.
Sentinel is currently being developed and targeted for availability for carrier direct sales during the fourth quarter of 2010.
