Etihad Airways’ loyalty program, Etihad Guest, now includes the new Walletplus feature on its membership cards. The add-on allows members to load travel money onto their Etihad Guest card and convert it to 11 different foreign currencies.
Etihad says the new feature, which is powered by Visa, makes it convenient for travelers to pre-load the card and immediately spend in the local currency upon arrival in another country, without having to first exchange or transfer funds at a foreign exchange or bank.
Walletplus allows up to 11 different currencies to be held on the card at one time, one of which must be in United Arab Emirates Dirham. The 10 other currencies travelers can choose from include the U.S. Dollar, Pound Sterling, Euro, Indian Rupee, Australian Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Singapore Dollar, Hong Kong Dollar, Japanese Yen or Thai Baht.
Etihad Airways is based in Abu Dhabi and flies to 111 destinations throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.
Members in the UAE will begin receiving the new Etihad Guest card with Walletplus in early March. The airline plans to expand the service to other countries in the future.
