The Department of Transportation analyzed the nation's most expensive major airports and for the second year in a row, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport took the title. An average roundtrip ticket at CVG costs $570 and airport officials pointed to Delta as the culprit, a carrier that operates more than 80 percent of flights out of CVG. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that, "airport officials say they've worked to get fares lower, but when new low-cost competition comes in, Delta lowers its rates and the newcomer pulls out." CVG was followed by San Francisco International Airport, with a $494 average roundtrip ticket price and Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. at $448. Newark International Airport in New Jersey and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport tied at $448.
