GrandLuxe Introduces Copper Canyon Rail Itinerary

GrandLuxe Rail Journeys' "Mexico's Copper Canyon," a seven-day trip between Chihuahua and Mazatlan, is slated to debut next winter. The trip features a 6,550-foot descent (or ascent, on the northbound route) through the Copper Canyon to the Pacific Ocean on a railroad that took more than 90 years to build. With 37 trestles and 86 tunnels, the railroad travels through canyons larger than the Grand Canyon. Southbound departures from Chihuahua are scheduled for December 14 and 28, 2008; January 11 and 25, 2009; and February 8, 2009. Northbound trips from Mazatlan are slated for December 20, 2008; January 3, 17 and 31, 2009; and February 14, 2009. Prices range from $5,070 to $7,230 per person, depending on accommodations.
