Zegrahm Expeditions is expanding many of its options for travelers looking to explore Asia in the coming months, and has announced it will be offering three new luxury rail itineraries for 2016 and 2017.
The “Along the Silk Road: Central Asia by Rail” itinerary will take place October 13 – 29, 2016. Guests aboard the Golden Eagle train will travel through Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, accompanied by Asia expert Gary Wintz. Spacious en suite cabins, dedicated service, gourmet meals, and large picture windows are all included with this itinerary, which also includes a visit to Samarkand’s Registan Square. Travelers will also have a chance to explore Georgia’s cave city of Uplistsikhe, or they can opt for a stroll through the ancient streets of Bukhara. Rates start at $21,480 per person.
Zegrahm will also be offering the “Iran by Rail” itinerary aboard the Golden Eagle from November 12 – 26, 2017. Gary Wintz will again guide this expedition, during which guests will visit seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Masjed-e-Jamé, the Royal Square of Esfahan, Persepolis, and Golestan Palace. A stop at the ancient bazaar of Kashan, famous for Persian carpets, textiles, and rosewater will also be part of this journey, along with a tour of Iran’s cosmopolitan capital city, Tehran. Prices for the “Iran by Rail” itinerary start at $16,480 per person.
The “India by Rail with the Hornbill Festival” itinerary, from November 20 – December 4, 2017, will take guests through northern India aboard the Palace on Wheels. Plush interiors, gourmet meals and dedicated service will be included with the itinerary. Travelers will be accompanied by Dr. Shirley Campbell, social anthropologist and India enthusiast, as they attend the Hornbill festival which showcases Nagaland’s regional dance, music, art, and ethnic foods. Travelers will also delight in a visit to the royal cities of Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur, and have a chanced to search for tigers and other Indian wildlife at Ranthambore National Park. Rates for this package start at $19,980 per person.
