PATA Responds to UK Travel Tax

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) is taking the next step in its campaign against the UK's tax on travel. PATA Chapters are being encouraged to lobby British Ambassadors and High Commissioners to oppose spikes in the UK government's Air Passenger Duty.

PATA will highlight the importance of travel and tourism to their own economies. With these tax increases planned for November of this year, travel from the UK to many long-haul developing markets will become too expensive for many families. THE APD was already doubled in February 2007 and further increased in November 2009.
