Pets Start Packing for Summer Travel

Fido and Fifi have become some of vacationer's favorite travel companions, according to a survey conducted by

The Summer Pet Travel Survey, administered to more than 6,000 pet owners worldwide, revealed that most pet owners travel at least once a year with their pets.

Of those surveyed, 61 percent of pet owners said that they travel more than 50 miles with their pets at least once a year, and 38 percent of those said they travel as frequently as once a month with their pets.

This summer is proving to be no different, as 57 percent said they planned on traveling with their pet within the next three months.

The most difficult challenge that travelers face are airline travel fees. About 38 percent of pet owners say that airline pet fees are too expensive and that there is not enough selection of pet-friendly airlines.
