VIA Rail Canada has established a partnership with Hainan Airlines, a China-based air carrier.
Given that visits from China to Canada have been on the rise according to the Canadian Tourism Commission, the collaboration will allow for greater ease of travel between the two countries, VIA Rail Canada said.
The arrangement allows travel agencies and Hainan Airlines ticket offices to provide a single electronic ticket with boarding passes for passengers’ flight and train trips (valid for travel both to and from each country). For the first time, all legs of visitors' journeys can now be planned at once.
