Where to Take the Kids this Halloween

Looking for some spooky activities to entertain the family this Halloween? We’ve rounded up some of the top destinations offering a wide range of halloween-themed happenings to fit the entire family.

New Orleans’s Windsor Court Hotel is hosting its annual Halloween Tea in Le Salon. The Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium will host various insects which kids can interact with. Children can also meet with representatives from the Insectarium to learn about the creepy creatures while enjoying Halloween-themed treats by Pastry Chef Shun Li. A door prize with two tickets to the Audubon Nature Institute will be awarded to one guest at each seating. Costumes are encouraged for all.  

Seatings will be held Saturday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m.; and Sunday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Adult tea menu $37 per person; Child tea menu $27 per person. 

Finger Lakes is hosting an array of creepy activities this fall. The haunted history trail of New York state includes stops at the Allegiance Bed & Breakfast (Where ghosts Karen and Ray frequently visit), Spook Hill (where cars roll uphill when put into neutral), and the Naples Hotel (haunted by at least six friendly spirits), among others.
 
Over 500 specially carved jack-o-lanterns of different shapes and sizes will light the way along two winding, wooded trails at Jack-o-Lantern Land at Enchanted Beaver Lake. Face painting, fortune telling, magic shows, and storytelling are all a part of this experience. The Friends of Beaver Lake will be selling hotdogs, donuts, caramel apples, popcorn and cider. 
 
The Owego Parkview Hotel and Restaurant (Owego, N.Y.) offers haunting activities for the community during the annual “Owego Zombie Fest” on October 25 at their 145 Front Street establishment. From 3 to 4:30 p.m., the community is invited to “Get Your Zombie On” with full makeup and gear. From 4:45 to 5:15 p.m., students will entertain with a full performance of Michael Jackson’s "Thriller,” complimented by a nearby Flash Mob, who will lead the Zombie Walk. The event will culminate at the Parkview with a performance by “Recycled Zombies” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The event is free of charge

The Great Wolf Lodge presents Howl-O-Ween, a Halloween celebration with rates starting at $199 per night. Available at eleven Great Wolf Lodge locations, throughout October, families can participate in a range of Halloween themed activities when noting the HOWL promo code at time of booking. During Howl-O-Ween, children are free to join a trail of trick-or-treaters as they collect ghostly goodies along a spooky path, don Halloween costumes for a parade, attend a monster-themed dance party and end the night with some scary stories.
