Agencies' Air Sales Slightly Ahead of 2012

graphARC reports that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 1.05 percent year-over-year in the first three quarters of 2013 compared to the same period last year, totaling $67.3 billion vs. $66.6 billion in 2012. Sales for September 2013 were $7 million, a 7 percent increase over September 2012.

As of September 30, ARC said ticket transactions for 2013 were basically flat at -0.81 percent over the same period in 2012 to 111 million. Year-to-date passenger segments decreased 2 percent to 277.6 million compared to 283.2 million in the eight months of 2012 and 283.3 million in 2011.

Carriers reporting totaled 192, while retail locations continued to decline hitting 13,253. STP locations reporting totaled 397 and VTC locations 1,639. ARC reported Average Daily Sales for the calendar month of $15,447.
