The Regent Palms Turks and Caicos to Get Upgraded

NEW YORK CITY, New YorkTravel Agent recently sat down with Karen S. Whitt, general manager of The Regent Palms Turks and Caicos, and learned that the property will be getting some minor upgrades from new in-room designs to a new pool-side bar to some possible spa refurbishments later this year.

Whitt told us the owners of the Regent brand, which represents seven hotels throughout the world, are looking to go back to their “old school brand of luxury,” referring to the subtle, yet elegant designs the company has earned a reputation for over the years. In fact, Whitt and other representatives of the hotels are set to make a trip to Shanghai soon to meet with Regent representatives and discuss in more detail what exactly needs to be done to give the property that traditional Regent stamp.

The 72-suite resort also hired a new executive chef and plans to make some fun changes to the menu of the resort's Parallel 23 restaurant, where Travel Agent visited a few years and still considers one of the best restaurants in all the Caribbean.

A new trendy bar is also expected to be added at the property’s pool area and some major spa refurbishments are also expected to be announced soon. Although Whitt would not budge on the specifics, we got the impression that she has big plans tfor the already incredibly popular 25,000-sqaure-foot Regent Spa.

“We are right where we want to be, but this will just raise us by one more level,” says Whitt, who is also the destination’s Hotel Association president. “In Turks and Caicos, where there are so many impressive luxury resorts, you have to stand out or you will not be successful. We are just looking to stand out a little more.”
