Streamsong Resort in Florida Opens Luxury Lodge

Streamsong Resort's Lodge has officially opened. The 216-room luxury property is the centerpiece of the 16,000 acre Florida resort.

We interviewed property representatives about the then-upcoming opening back in August. A land-based resort, Streamsong represents an untapped Florida niche, resort representatives said, targeting travelers interested in golf, swimming, fishing, tennis, shooting, horseback riding, hiking and ballooning in a state that is more famous for its beaches and cruise industry.

"Our mission at Streamsong is to redefine what guests, particularly golfers from all over the world, should expect from a luxury resort," Richard Mogensen, Streamsong's general manager, said in the announcement of the Lodge's opening. "With the opening of the Lodge, our guests can now experience this incredible place in its entirety. From a breathtaking natural environment to luxurious accommodations, fantastic dining and incomparable guest service, Streamsong will no doubt emerge as one of the most unique destinations in the United States and the world."

The resort's two golf courses are Streamsong Red, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, and Streamsong Blue, designed by Renaissance Golf Design (Tom Doak). In their first year of operation, Streamsong Red and Blue topped GOLF magazine's list of the "Best New Courses You Can Play" and were recently ranked as the 12th and 14th best resort courses in the United States by Golfweek.com, among other accolades.

Streamsong guests can also take guided excursions on the property's prolific bass fishing lakes; explore bird-watching and wildlife along a tranquil nature trail; test their aim at the resort's sporting clays facility; indulge in European spa treatments; and take a dip in the lakeside infinity pool.

The Lodge offers three restaurants: SottoTerra, which offers contemporary Italian cuisine; Floridian comfort food-focused P2O5; and Fragmentary Blue, which focuses on pub-style small plates.

The property's golf Clubhouse, which opened in January 2013, offers banquet space with sweeping water views, 12 guestrooms, Restaurant Fifty-NineT- a steak and seafood-themed restaurant - and a bar, lounge, and golf shop.
