Turtle Bay Resort to Host Waterman Program in August

turtle bay junior waterman programTurtle Bay Resort on Oahu's North Shore is set to host the Kainalu Jr. Waterman Program for youth in early August. The five-day program will offer a variety of culturally based ocean activities and ocean science exploration.

Master watermen and ocean educators Dolan Eversole and Ian Masterson will lead this program that integrates ocean science, Hawaiian culture, environmental awareness and core character development. The program includes ocean safety training, and is open to youth ages 10 to 18 years old.

All skill levels are welcome, but each participant must be a proficient swimmer and comfortable in the ocean. This program aims to challenge each participant at their level and instill confidence in their ocean ability. Ocean proficiency skills include: Ocean safety and junior lifeguard skills, ocean swimming, snorkeling, canoe paddling, sailing, surfing, sand-up paddling and paddleboarding. Daily activities are centered at Turtle Bay Resort with an excursion to Waimea Valley and a tour of North Shore surf sites.

Two sessions are available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 4-8 and 11-15. Rates start from $1000 for the five-day program or $250 per day, which includes all transportation, lunches and snacks, and Kainalu hat and rash guard. The fee does not include accommodations. Each session will have a maximum of 25 students, and reservations are required by calling 808-447-6515.
