Air New Zealand Modifies Pacific Routes

October 25, 2006 By: Camie Foster Travel Agent

Air New Zealand is changing its route network in the Pacific next year. As of April 2, 2007, the carrier is suspending its thrice-weekly Los Angeles-Papeete-Rarotonga service and replacing it with one nonstop a week between Los Angeles and Rarotonga. This service will increase to two nonstops a week during peak travel periods, the carrier says. There will be no change to Air New Zealand's current service between Rarotonga and Auckland. Also beginning in April, Air New Zealand will codeshare with Air Tahiti Nui four days a week on that carrier's nonstop Los Angeles-Papeete service. In addition, subject to governmental approvals, Air New Zealand and Air Tahiti Nui will operate a nonstop four times a week between Papeete and Auckland. Under the plan, each carrier will operate two flights a week, with reciprocal codeshare. Air New Zealand also is modifying the three days on which it operates service between Los Angeles and Nadi. It plans to provide service to travelers on the other four days of the week by way of codeshare with Air Pacific, subject to governmental approval. Visit [].
