Airlines Bring Europe Closer to Middle East

The Middle East just got a little closer to Europe as the first Emirates flight to Dublin from Dubai arrived 15 minutes before its appointed time yesterday morning.

The Irish Times is reporting that the airline will serve Dublin daily with an A330-200. Where previously there was no direct connections between Ireland and the Middle East, there are now 17 flights a week divided between Emirates and Etihad Airways, based in neighboring Abu Dhabi.

Meanwhile, the airline has just announced a second-daily nonstop flight from Glasgow to Dubai, which will launch in June.

The BBC reports that Emirates has been flying from Glasgow since 2004 and this increases capacity by 47 percent, an extra 199 seats each way.
