Alaska Resumes Flights To/From Anchorage

Alaska Airlines resumed flights at 6 a.m. Alaska time on Sunday, after being forced to cancel 28 flights Friday and early Saturday as a safety precaution related to Alaska's Mt. Augustine volcano eruption. To accommodate passengers whose flights were canceled, the airline has been operating some flights on affected routes with larger aircraft that have additional seating capacity. Alaska Airlines says it continues to monitor the volcano and ash conditions and may make additional flight schedule changes if conditions change. Travelers are advised to check the status of flights at [www.alaskaair.com] or 800- 252-7522. Flights were canceled Friday afternoon through early Saturday between Anchorage and the following cities: Chicago; Juneau and Kodiak, AK; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Portland, OR; and Seattle. The airline also canceled flights between Seattle and Fairbanks, AK.
