Amadeus Injunction Denied; Will Cover Booking Fees

A U.S. Federal Court Judge has denied GDS provider Amadeus' request for an injunction to prevent American Airlines from imposing a $3.50 per-segment booking fee on agents using its product. However, the company says that it will temporarily reimburse agents the money they pay in booking fees. "We emphasize that this is interim relief," Amadeus adds. American Airlines will begin imposing the booking fees on agents on Sept. 1. Meanwhile, Amadeus says it has similarly requested that a judge issue an injunction preventing Northwest Airlines from imposing its own booking fees. That hearing is scheduled for next week in U.S. Federal Bankruptcy Court.
