BA Focuses on U.S. Expansion

September 20, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

British Airways in the summer of 2008 will expand its flight services between London's Heathrow Airport and various U.S. cities, though the carrier is temporarily suspending routes between Heathrow and Detroit, with the aircraft being used on other more lucrative routes. The airline currently operates daily service between Detroit and Harare. Increased frequencies in March 2008-when the "Open Skies" agreement between the U.S. and the European Union goes into effect, lifting air travel restrictions—include services between Heathrow and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, which will see an increase of 51 to 55 flights per week; Seattle going up from 10 to 13 flights per week and Washington, D.C., which will increase from 21 to 24 flights per week. In addition, services between Gatwick and Orlando, FL will increase from seven to 10 flights per week. At that time, British Airway's daily flight from Dallas Fort Worth and double daily flights to Houston also will move from Gatwick to Heathrow. Visit [].
