BA Goes Green on the Ground

May 24, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

As part of its move to London Heathrow's Terminal 5 in March 2008, British Airways is investing in a new fleet of 550 airport vehicles that include baggage tractors, loading equipment and passenger buses, which will help reduce ground emissions emitted by the airline. Specific to consumers, British Airways will soon operate 38 new Citaro passenger buses produced by DaimlerChrysler, vehicles that meet the very highest Euro 5 standard in environmental performance, the carrier said. The first bus was delivered this week and will go into service early next month, after drivers have gone through a training program. The remaining 37 buses will be delivered in the next few weeks. Such a move will result in British Airways reducing its number of buses at Heathrow by over 50 percent by 2010. Visit [].
