Brazilian Airline Orders 37 Jets

TAM, a fast-growing Brazilian airline, signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase 37 Airbus aircraft in a deal valued at $2.9 billion. The order includes 15 Airbus A319s, 16 A320s and 6 A330 aircraft that will be delivered through 2010. It's all about fleet expansion, which is making TAM Brazil's largest carrier. Last year, TAM ordered 29 A320s plus took options for an additional 20 aircraft. TAM officials say they plan to use the new jets to expand domestic and international routes.
