China Southern to Begin Nigeria Flights

China Southern Airlines plans to begin flying passengers next month between Beijing and Lagos, Nigeria, in a further sign of the deepening economic ties between China and the resource-rich African continent, the Wall Street Journal reports. China Southern, with the largest fleet of any Chinese airline, will fly three times a week to Lagos—Nigeria's commercial hub—via Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Guangzhou-based China Southern said it would open the route Dec. 30 using Airbus A330 jetliners.
