China Southern Receives IATA Nod

China Southern Airlines, has received confirmation of registration under the International Air Transport Association's Operational Safety Audit, or IOSA. The carrier has been working to receive this registration since April. IATA is requiring current and future members to complete an audit successfully by next year to retain membership or become a member. Additionally, according to China Southern, IOSA registration is mandatory for all members of the SkyTeam Alliance. China Southern has signed an agreement to become a full member of the alliance; this is scheduled to take place during the second half of next year. Audits encompass everything from flight operations, safety management and aircraft maintenance to cabin safety, flight planning, security, and cargo and ground handling. Airlines that pass these audits will be listed as IOSA operators on an IOSA registry, accessible online at [www.iata.org/registry]. Registered operators will be required to satisfy the requirements of an IOSA audit every two years to remain on the registry. Visit [www.cs-air.com/en].
