Continental Adds Flat-Bed Seats to BusinessFirst 777 CabinsDecember 6, 2010 By: Staff
Continental Airlines announced Monday that all of its Boeing 777 international flights now feature flat-bed seats in the plane's BusinessFirst cabin.
The flights with the flat-bed seats include routes between Newark Liberty International Airport and Beijing, Delhi, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London/Heathrow, Mumbai, Shanghai, Tel Aviv and Tokyo, and between Houston (Bush Int'l) and London/Heathrow and Tokyo.
"Customers flying to international destinations on our Boeing 777s are now assured a flat-bed seat whenever they choose to fly with us," said Jim Compton, executive vice president and chief revenue officer. “These seats are highly popular with customers from all over the world, and we will begin installing them on the rest of our widebody fleet beginning next year.”
The flat-bed seat on the Boeing 777 reclines to an even 180-degrees and is 6-feet, 6-inches long when in fully extended position. Power, headset and USB plugs are located above the shoulder of the passenger, and the seats include iPod connectivity and 15.4-inch video monitors.
The seats originally debuted in November 2009 and are being installed on Continental's Boeing 757 aircraft. The process of retrofitting 767 aircraft with the seats will begin in 2011.
