Delta Will Cut 1,000 Management/Admin Jobs

Delta Airlines acknowledges that 1,000 managerial and administrative employees are soon to lose their jobs. The company told employees about the cuts internally this week, but had alluded to the cuts as far back as September publicly. Reportedly, the new layoffs will include everyone from managers to secretaries, as well as some executives like Paul Matsen, the airline's marketing chief. Delta remains deadlocked with its pilots union and a proposal to cut pilot pay; that matter is in the hands of arbitrators, who will decide by April 15 on whether Delta can terminate its labor agreement with the pilots.
