Delta's Worldwide Day of Hope Airport Walk to Fight Cancer

walkDelta’s fourth annual Day of Hope Airport Walk is May 2nd, 2013, commemorating the American Cancer Society’s 100th birthday. Proceeds from the walk and other events will go towards the company’s fundraising goal of $1 million during the month of May, to be donated to the Society.

In addition to the airport walk, two events will take place in Atlanta. On May 3, teams of Delta employees will drag a Boeing 757 20 feet as quickly as they can to compete in the Jet Drag at the Delta TechOps facility. Later in May, another walk will be held at Delta’s corporate campus with hundreds of employees, family, friends, and community members.

Participating airports include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, London, Los Angeles, Nagoya, Japan, Madrid, Minneapolis, New York, Rome, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Seattle, Tokyo, Vancouver, and British Colombia.

Delta is also running their Light to Finish The Fight promotion on Facebook.  Customers can light a virtual luminary on the Delta Facebook page, in honor or in memory of those affected by cancer.  For the first 50,000, Delta will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society.

To raise general awareness of efforts by the American Cancer Society to find a cure, a Boeing 767 will travel the globe featuring their 100th Anniversary logo and the phrase “official sponsor of birthdays.”
