Expedia Refutes AA's Dismissal

Expedia issued a statement saying it made the decision to remove some of American Airlines fares from its site not vice versa. Air Transit World reports that the online booking engine—not American—was the one that decided to remove the carrier's domestic business and first class and international fares purchased in the United States from Expedia.com. At the time American issued its statement, a spokesperson told Travel Agent that the reason was due to economics, but ATW quotes Expedia as stating, "Expedia made this decision independent of any negotiation issues with AA."
