Finnair Launches Daily Flights to SingaporeMay 12, 2011 By: Deanna Ting
Finnair is giving New York- and Chicago-based travelers yet another option for travel to Singapore. Beginning May 30, the airline will launch a daily direct route to Singapore via Helsinki, marking Finnair’s 10th scheduled flight destination in Asia and making Finnair the only airline to offer a daily connection between Singapore and Northern Europe.
The new long-haul route is being tailored to suit the needs of business passengers, and the airline anticipates that it will be one of the fastest routes for travel from Northern Europe to Singapore. Currently, Finnair flies from New York daily and will offer rates from Chicago to Singapore, in cooperation with Oneworld alliance partner American Airlines, during the summer traffic season. Roundtrip economy-class service between New York’s JFK International Airport and Singapore will start at $1,215.
The route will also offer passengers onward connections from Singapore and Helsinki. For passengers traveling from Asia, connections are available to more than 50 European destinations via Helsinki. Passengers coming from Europe can continue onward to Australia and Southeast Asia via Singapore. This new service will also open travel opportunities for passengers to visit the neighboring countries of Malaysia and Indonesia.
In addition, Finnair will add five flights per week to Hong Kong, increasing its number of flights to Hong Kong to 12 per week from May 30, 2011, to October 9, 2011. Finnair currently operates a total of 74 flights per week to Asia.
