Flyers Rate Airport Satisfaction

An airport satisfaction study released Thursday by J.D. Power and Associates cited McCarran International (LAS) in Las Vegas as the top airport for overall passenger satisfaction among large airports; second place went to John F. Kennedy (JFK) in New York and Philadelphia International (PHL) in a tie. New York's LaGuardia Airport ranked highest among medium-size airports and received the highest overall passenger satisfaction score in the 2006 study; Chicago Midway (MDW) was second in the medium-airport category followed by Baltimore Washington International (BWI). Among small airports, Dallas Love Field (DAL) and Houston Hobby (HOU) tied for first, following by John Wayne Airport (SNA) in Orange County, CA. In addition, the study found that 47 percent of travelers reported feeling "very safe" while flying within North America, compared to just 13 percent who say they felt "very safe" when traveling outside of North America. While 30 percent felt it is "unsafe" or "very unsafe" to travel abroad, just 4 percent of travelers felt the same about traveling domestically.
