Global Gateway Alliance Announces New Executive Director

BusinessThe Global Gateway Alliance (GGA), a new non-profit organization dedicated to improving the New York Metropolitan area major airports and related infrastructure, announced today the appointment of Stephen Sigmund as Executive Director.

The selection coincides with the GGA’s goal of returning area airports to the excellent status they boasted over three decades ago. The GGA will focus on advocating for the redevelopment of LaGuardia’s central terminal, improving access to and from New York and New Jersey airports, better customer service, and enhancements that will facilitate quicker and more efficient passenger security screening.

Sigmund has 20 years of experience as an advisor, strategist, and spokesperson to some of area’s most visible elected officials, corporations, and organizations.  Of those 20 years, five were spent as Chief of Public Government Affairs at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

“With each day, New York City and our region only adds to its stature as the world’s number one place to visit, work and raise a family, and yet our airports and related infrastructure appear stuck in a previous age of stagnancy and decay that carries real costs in dollars and quality of life,” says Sigmund, “raising awareness of these issues and providing plausible solutions will help realize much of the revenue we are currently leaving on the table.”
