Heathrow to Get Third Runway

The United Kingdom's government approved the construction of a third runway at London Heathrow to help meet capacity demand eTurboNews reported Thursday. "Heathrow is in an increasingly uncompetitive position in relation to other major European airports," says a government report. "Although it handles more passengers per year than any other European airport, it has less runway capacity than competing major European hub airports." Though the decision seems justified for capacity's sake, environmentalists disagree, stating that building more capacity will only add to the growing problem of global warming.
