New Mini Jets to Make Small Plane Travel More Affordable

October 5, 2006 By: Dan Butcher Travel Agent

A new breed of plane arrives this fall, promising more affordable small plane travel, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Adam Aircraft A700 is part of a new breed of less-expensive "Very Light Jets" that will make private-jet flying available to many more people. There are three easy-to-fly VLJ models in production, two of which will begin deliveries in the next few months. New air-taxi services are planning to use these jets by the hundreds. Some seats can be pretty roomy; some can be as cramped as the back seat of a Volkswagen Beetle. Cost to own and fly a VLJ: roughly $2 to $6 a mile or more, per person; coach tickets average roughly 10 cents per mile.

What do you think of this $type?
