October 11, 2006 By: Mike Jaccarino Travel Agent

Northwest Airlines announced Wednesday that it was adding six trans-Atlantic flights and two European destinations to its roster of routes. The routes include non-stop service to Brussels, Belgium and Dusseldorf, Germany, as well non-stop service between Hartford, Connecticut and Amsterdam. The Brussels service will begin May 7 and the Dusseldorf route June 5. "Brussels and Dusseldorf are among the most popular European destinations for business and leisure travelers who currently do not enjoy non-stop service from our WorldGateway at Detroit hub," says Phil Haan, a Northwest executive. Northwest says that it is also adding more flights between Detroit and Amsterdam and Boston and Amsterdam.
