On Monday, the International Air Transport Association said it had placed its last order for paper tickets, meaning that by June 1, 2008, airline ticketing will be completely paperless. Reuters quoted Giovanni Bisignani, director general of IATA, as stating that abandoning paper would cut airlines' costs by $9 per traveler, as well as save 50,000 trees a year. On its web site, IATA said that it processes 300 million paper tickets each year and that e-ticketing will save the industry up to $3 billion per year. Visit [www.iata.org].
