Several Airlines Face Ban by EU

Several news outlets on Thursday reported that the European Commission announced plans to extend an operating ban to all 51 Indonesian airlines, as well as 10 Russian airlines, TAAG Angola Airlines and Volare Aviation Enterprise, based in Ukraine. Recent safety issues-including some fatal crashes-prompted the EU air safety committee to make the decision, which is expected to become official next week. Even though Indonesian carriers do not currently fly to Europe, the EU advised inhabitants of its member countries to start preparing for the ban immediately, as the potential banning of other carriers could effect summer travel plans for agencies and their clients within the EU.
