Thai Airways Approves Order for 8 Airbus Jets

February 23, 2007 By: Dan Butcher Travel Agent

The board of Thai Airways International approved an order for eight A330-300 aircraft from Airbus at a discount of more than $10 million each, executives of the national carrier said, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. The deal originally included four additional aircraft as compensation for the delayed delivery of six A380s. However, Thai Airways President Apinan Sumanaseni rejected the offer, stating that the delivery slots do not fit the airline's plans, the WSJ reported. The first A380 is due September 2010, 21 months behind schedule and the first A33 is set to be delivered in October 2008.
