TSA Decision Paves Way for Service at Florida Keys Marathon Airport

December 4, 2006 By: Joe Pike Travel Agent

The Transportation Security Administration confirmed late last week it will provide security screening that would allow resumption of commercial airline service into Florida Keys Marathon Airport. The TSA plans to contract security-screening services for both Florida Keys Marathon and Key West International airports. Key West currently uses TSA staff screeners. In a signed letter faxed to Monroe County Airports Director Peter Horton Friday, Dec. 1, Jack Wagner, branch chief of TSA's Screening Partnership Program, promised to have screening services at Marathon by no later than Feb. 15, even if it meant using staff screeners until a contractor is located. That commitment means Delta Connection can begin round-trip daily flights from Atlanta to Marathon that day.
