Virgin America Close to Getting Its Wings

The United States government on Tuesday tentatively approved the launch of Virgin's counterpart in America. USA Today reported that the U.S. Department of Transportation first requires that the carrier rid itself of Virgin America CEO Fred Reid, a former Delta Air Lines president. The stipulation stems from requirements that limit foreign control and ownership of U.S. airlines, the paper noted, adding that Reid declined to say whether Virgin America's investors would agree to the government's terms. If all goes well, Virgin America could take off as soon as July.
