Antigua and Barbuda’s Agent Boot Camp a Success

Antigua and Barbuda’s Score 100 Boot Camp Program recently concluded successfully with more than 100 accredited agents from across the United States participating in an accelerated sales training program that enhanced their ability to sell the twin islands.

For 10 consecutive weeks, the visit of the travel agents was integrated with hands-on niche market product experiences that included agro, eco, faith, culinary, wedding, honeymoon and adventure segments.

The agents were also brought up to date on Antigua and Barbuda’s heritage, history and culture while they enjoyed both land and water activities and carried out the traditional resort site inspections to gain knowledge about the accommodations product.

Agents were also encouraged to document their experiences with photos and stories— a contest has been launched to judge these submissions and the content will be used as testimonials throughout the travel agent community to help promote some of the distinctive features of the destination. All participants will receive a Certificate of Merit indicating that they have successfully completed the program.

“The travel agents enjoyed having an opportunity to interact with talented and accomplished personalities that reside on the islands and we believe these one of a kind pursuits will make their time with us more memorable,” said Derede Samuel-Whitlock, director of tourism in the U.S, in a written statement.

Among the unique activities the participants enjoyed was a tour of the local market and then preparing an Antiguan dish at the popular Dennis’ Restaurant; sewing costumes for Antigua and Barbuda’s annual carnival; assisting with the preparation of the world famous Susie’s Hot Sauce and helping with the co-ordination of a ‘destination wedding’ at the Jolly Beach Resort.
