Report From Carlson's National Meeting

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL–Travel Agent was on site for the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Division's 2006 National Meeting at the Saddlebrook Resort in Wesley Chapel, FL. Steve Loucks, senior director of public relations for Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Division, says about 600 agents and 300 suppliers attended the three-day event, which began on Thursday and concluded on Saturday. Roger E. Block, executive vice president of the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Division, says attendance was the highest it has been since 1998. Recipients of the 2006 Carlson Wagonlit Travel Award of Excellence were announced at Thursday's session. Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associates (franchisees) from throughout the United States were honored with the travel agency's annual "Award of Excellence" for outstanding performance over the past year. On Friday, The Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Division presented its "2006 Associate of the Year" Award to its duo from Virginia Beach—D. Bruce and Carol Horner. The Horners' business started out as a Travel Agents International (TAI) franchise in September 1990. In 1994, Bruce and Carol Horner became partners in the agency, which was converted to Carlson Wagonlit Travel in 1997 when TAI was acquired by the Carlson Wagonlit Travel Associate Program.
