New Options for the Bahamas

Compass Point was originally created by legendary music impresario Chris Blackwell, Island Records founder and the man behind the careers of Bob Marley and U2, as a Nassau, Bahamas sanctuary for musicians. The resort is now joining Blackwell's Island Outpost collection of Caribbean properties and is scheduled for a Dec. 1 re-opening. Its 18 huts—brightly colored two-story cottages and single cabanas—sit at water's edge, and have natural wood floors and whitewashed walls. Amenities include a redesigned restaurant, plus flat-screen TVs, CD and DVD players, wireless Internet and Aveda products. Rates, effective Dec. 1, 2006–April 16, 2007, range from $270 to $460 per room, per night double, not including 20 percent tax.
