Los Cabos' Luxe Plans

February 9, 2009 By: Joe Pike Travel Agent

In 2009 and beyond, Los Cabos will be debuting a collection of luxury hotels, world-class spas and championship golf courses in an apparent effort to keep up with the Riviera Maya.

Capella Pedregal, a 66-room hotel and residence resort located along the Cabo San Lucas Marina with views of the Sea of Cortes, is expected to open soon.

In 2010, the Montage Los Cabos, a luxury hotel from Montage Hotels & Resorts, which has hotels and residential communities in Laguna Beach and Beverly Hills, will open on the site of the former Twin Dolphins Hotel along the Sea of Cortes.

Also under development is the Ritz-Carlton Los Cabos, Quivira, which is scheduled to open in 2011. This hotel will follow the existing Ritz-Carlton Residences at Quivira, one of Los Cabos’ idyllic new residential resort communities with luxurious amenities and services. In addition to the array of new developments, several new golf courses have opened or are in various stages of construction in Los Cabos.

The most recent addition to Los Cabos’ roster of golf courses can be found in the Puerto Los Cabos community just northeast of San José del Cabo. There, your clients will find a recently opened 18-hole course with nine holes designed by Jack Nicklaus and nine holes designed by Greg Norman. Also, the newly launched Quivira Los Cabos resort area features two Nicklaus-designed courses that are anticipated to rank among the best in North America. They are scheduled to open for play in early 2010. Visit
