Tourism Whistler Launches Contest to Win a Month's Stay at Whistler Resort

Tourism Whistler is pleased with the public response to the Whistler Sabbatical Project, with thousands entering the contest for a month-long Whistler adventure.

In the Coast Mountains, north of Vancouver, Canada, Whistler is considered Canada’s premiere year-round leisure and meeting destination. It boasts an extensive range of accommodations from hotels to chalets, as well as restaurants, spas, and many opportunities for skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and more.

The Whistler Sabbatical Project launched on October 17 and will feature a new Whistler experience each week, for 15 weeks, on the microsite set up through Whistler.com. Contestants are asked a question, Would You Do It?, and earn a contest entry each time they answer the weekly poll. Visitors to the site will be able to view video of the various experiences and activities that are related to the poll for that week. The grand prize is spending one month in the resort, expenses paid, a salary of up to $4,200, airfare, a lift pass, equipment and a series of ultimate Whistler experiences.

Kirsten Homeniuk, senior manager of marketing services of Tourism Whistler, said, “The Whistler Sabbatical Project is generating tremendous response. There’s been great interest in the weekly online videos, and our social media efforts have resulted in thousands of people tweeting the contest details and sharing with friends on Facebook. It’s really helping us to engage with more customers – and inspire people to choose Whistler this winter.”

This week is featuring the Scandinave Spa, with its outdoor baths, steam room, sauna and treatment rooms. In addition to the Project’s winner being able to visit the Scandinave Spa, one person will win a Scandinave Spa package this week via Facebook.

The Whistler Sabbatical Project and the weekly prize contests are open to residents of North America, Australia and the United Kingdom. The contest closes January 31, 2012 and 10 finalists will be randomly selected from February 1 through February 10, 2012. The grand prize winner will be notified on February 13, 2012.
