New SAC Terminal to Have People Mover, Hotel, Garage

Sacramento County has approved a new $1.28 billion terminal that will replace Terminal B, one of two terminals at the airport, USA Today reports. Construction will begin in 2008 and will be completed by 2011. The new 700,000-square-foot terminal will be three times the size of Terminal B, which serves American, United and others. It will feature an automated people mover system, 23 gates, a 200-room hotel and a new parking garage. The concession area will double, to 30,000 square feet. The new terminal also will be accompanied by a roadway that will split drivers heading to departure and arrival areas. Now, all passengers drive to the main level in Terminal B.
