In March, Enterprise Rent-A-Car announced an agreement to purchase Vanguard Car Rental and its Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands. On Wednesday, the acquisition was completed. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Enterprise will operate the two businesses separately from Enterprise for the foreseeable future, a company release said. "Over time and careful study, we will determine how best to join these operations," said Andrew Taylor, chairman and CEO of Enterprise. One plan, now in place, allows each company's corporate customers to participate in programs featured by the other company, like for example offering free memberships in National's Emerald Club for Enterprise corporate customers. Last month it was announced that Greg Stubblefield, a 25-year Enterprise executive, would succeed retiring Vanguard president, William Lobeck.
