Delta Flies In New CEO

August 23, 2007 By: Jennifer Merritt Travel Agent

Delta Air Lines' board of directors has selected Richard H. Anderson to succeed Gerald Grinstein as CEO. Anderson becomes CEO on September 1, following Grinstein retirement after 20 years of service with the carrier. Most recently, Anderson served as executive vice president of UnitedHealth Group and president of the health care company's commercial markets group. This is not Anderson's first foray into aviation however, as he also has served as vice president and deputy general counsel for Northwest Airlines, as well as in-house counsel for Continental Airlines. "In the coming weeks, I will spend the majority of my time listening to Delta people to learn how we can further improve the customer experience and position our company as an even better place to work," Anderson said in a statement.
